BBC presenter Nick Kwek is new ambassador for Fife

Nick Kwek, producer and presenter of '˜Click', the BBC's flagship technology news programme is the latest local to be awarded Ambassador status in the Kingdom by Fife Tourism Partnership.

Kwek frequently appears on screen traveling the world in search of innovation and breakthroughs.

Throughout his nine-year career in journalism, Kwek has interviewed high profile celebrities from grand-slam tennis champion Boris Becker to US musician and songwriter, will.i.am.

He has also collaborated with NASA for episodes of ‘Click’ and holds a participants Guinness World Record for most people playing a video game, while also having competed in the Segway Polo World Championships.

Kirkcaldy born Kwek grew up with his parents running a local takeaway restaurant in Leslie.

He has continued his passion for food and drink over the years, and has even experienced tasting 3D printed food.

Now based in London Kwek produces and presents a weekly technology news programme which is broadcast across BBC One, News Channel and World, in addition to recently producing for the Royal Television Society’s annual conference.

On being appointed as Fife’s latest ambassador, Nick Kwek said: “As an international BBC Broadcaster, I travel the world discovering new stories every day. I meet innovators from all walks of life, share their ideas and question them - in order to both entertain and educate.

“I have worked all over the world - from the Great Barrier Reef to the Arctic Circle - and wherever I go, people always ask me where I’m from. It’s such a pleasure to be able share my Fife heritage on an international scale, and I am honoured to have been appointed an Ambassador for Fife.

“The Kingdom is evidently continuing to grow its tourism offering generating a significant number of new and returning visits to the area, and it’s fantastic to be associated with such a vibrant region which is a beautiful, unique and historically significant part of the world.”

“2018 has been another strong year of tourism for Fife, from hosting The Open at Carnoustie to upcoming annual celebrations for St. Andrews Day. I am thrilled to see so many people enjoying everything Fife has to offer, and with even more developments in the pipeline for the coming months, it’s an exciting time to visit the region.”
