Fife man jailed for 20 months for two housebreakings

Keillor (30) admitted that on August 29 at an address in Buckhaven he stole a handbag and its contents, a purse containing a sum of money and bank cards, a CCTV camera and a set of keys.

He also admitted that on September 7 he broke into a house in Buckhaven and stole a Playstation 3 console, a Sony Experia mobile phone, a coat, a rucksack, a Mandalorian t-shirt, B&Q grey sealant, a Dr Who box set, an Alien blue ray box set and a Sherlock Holmes blue ray box set.

He admitted committing the offences while on bail.

In relation to the first complaint, the Procurator Fiscal Depute told the court the householder got up in the morning and noticed her handbag had gone, adding: “Their car keys were missing along with a CCTV camera. Her purse containing £40 and bank cards were also gone.

"She was able to view CCTV footage on her phone which showed the accused in the hallway holding her handbag under his arm, and shortly afterwards, bending down to a cupboard before the CCTV was disconnected."

She continued: “She contacted the police who identified the accused from the footage. Officers went his address that same day. He was cautioned and charged.”

The value of the property stolen was £400, and was not recovered.

In relation to the second complaint the Procurator Fiscal Depute told the court the complainer had been in her home watching television at 7.30pm.

"On returning to the bedroom at 9.30pm she noticed a Playstation 3 was missing.

The following morning, her partner checked online marketplace, and he saw a profile relating to the accused where he was selling a mobile phone for £40.

"The photo showed damage to the phone and the complainer recognised it.”

Police attended at Keillor’s address with a search warrant and recovered two of the boxsets.

Keillor’s defence agent told the court that his client’s relationship with his partner had broken down and he committed the offences to fund his drug problem.

Sheriff Gilchrist sentenced him to 20 months imprisonment backdated to September 10.
