Cupar folk given chance to spend £15K on town

Over the past few months the council has been asking local community groups to come up with ideas which will make Cupar area a thriving place and reduce inequalities.

Now eight ideas have made the shortlist and a voting event is to be held this week.

Community Manager Janice Laird is encouraging as many people as possible to come along and have their say: “We want to help create a fairer Fife for everyone. This initiative aims to involve people in finding local solutions and deciding how public funding is spent in their area.”

The eight projects are: Motorvators Project - offers support to clients with enduring mental health problems and people generally involved with the psychiatric services; Ceres community café /The Village Café - to provide a meeting place that enhances the quality of life for local residents; Cupar Highland Games - each year the Games is held in the Duffus Park, Cupar providing a day of entertainment for not only the local community but for people from all over the world; Howe of Fife Rugby Club - making the sport of rugby more inclusive; Fife Folk Museum – improve signage in Cupar to point visitors in the direction of Ceres; Include Me - Parents in Partnership - citizen advocacy; The Lighthouse - to upgrade the toliet facilities; and Sustainable Cupar – More Moor Road, to enhance the environs of the core path between Cupar and Ceres by providing benches.
