Fife school caught in hoax ‘explosive devices’ email threat
A hoax email which claimed there were explosive devices in hundreds of schools across the country was sent to one in Fife, it has been confirmed.
Police are investigating the communication which targeted schools in Northern Ireland and then further afield.
While it sparked concern among parents, all schools in Fife are closed for the October break.
Fife Council said it was aware of the hoax.

In a message sent to schools, which the Fife Free Press has seen, the education and children’s service said: “We are aware that schools across Scotland received communication s which were confirmed as a hoax.
“In Fife, one school received such a communication, and appropriate action following advice from Police Scotland, was taken in response.”
It added: “We understand that reports of this nature can understandably cause concern for children, families and staff.
“The safety of pupils and staff remains our priority. We liaise closely with Police Scotland regarding any threats or security concerns affecting Fife schools.”
In an update, Police Scotland said: “On Monday, threatening messages were sent to a number of schools across Scotland. These messages have been assessed and are being treated as a hoax, with nothing to suggest any threat to the public. “Officers and staff from Police Scotland's Cyber and Fraud Unit are working closely with partners and are continuing to carry out extensive inquiries to establish the source.”
It has been reported the email originated from outside the UK.
