Fife musician aims to reach top of the charts with new EP

Already sitting at number three in the Singer Songwriter download charts, his three-track EP Almost Fabulous is officially launched on Friday.

Cameron, also well known as one of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, said: “There’s so much negativity around because of lockdown that I thought it would be good to do something that would make people smile.”

This year was shaping up to be the best ever for the singer. On the heels of two Top 40 singles last year, he had three headline shows lined up in Scotland followed by singing in front of 10,000 people a night with the Edinburgh Tattoo on tour in Switzerland, a six-week tour with the Chilli Pipers and a place in the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil.

He previously acted in the NTS’s critically-acclaimed trio of historical James plays and the globally successful Black Watch production, including performing on Broadway in New York and the West End in London.

“I feel I’d been working towards this point my whole life and was buzzing for everything that was coming up, including getting the opportunity to get back into acting, and then everything just came to a halt with lockdown,” said Cameron, originally from Methil.

“However, when you put it into the perspective of the tragedies some people have suffered because of the pandemic my experience isn’t the end of the world.

“I’m also fortunate in that most of the work I should have been doing right now is being rescheduled rather than just cancelled.”

He has been keeping himself busy sharing the ups and downs of lockdown on his Instagram account - and also created a home studio in a cupboard in his Glasgow flat, which in turn led to the EP.

“I’ve got fantastic loyal fans in Fife who have supported me every step of the way over the years and I’m hoping they’ll love these new songs and help push the EP to the top spot,” Cameron added.

The EP Almost Fabulous is currently available from iTunes, Amazon and Google Play and, from Friday, at all download sites.
