"I chose the pantry as I saw the great work Gayle and her team have been doing in the community – it really touched my heart.

"They have been helping to feed kids and pensioners, and I just want to give something back to help them out.”He added: “I decided to do the Lomond Hill challenge over 30 days as I thought that it would give the fundraiser more exposure – and really get the word out there about the pantry.”

Luke and Puppy will start the challenge on February 15, weather permitting. They have gained support from various sponsors in town, including; LATR, Leslie Community Pantry, Aaron Andrews, Chris Kleinman Photography, Trojan Press, and James Wilson.

Gayle Wilson, pantry founder, said: “I am absolutely delighted that in these difficult times, Luke is taking on a massive challenge to raise funds for us.

“Charities are finding it difficult to fundraise right now, and it’s just incredible to see members of the community stepping forward, challenging themselves and setting goals to help raise funds for local charities.

"Without the support from members of the public, the likes of Leslie Community Pantry just couldn’t continue to provide the much needed service that we offer.

“I would encourage others to step forward, take on a challenge and raise funds for a local charity close to their heart.”
