Litter picking champ rallies politicians to keep Fife town tidy

A community champion from Kirkcaldy rallied a group of community-spirited volunteers last Saturday afternoon to help him pick up litter in the town.

Peter Docherty (31), enlisted the help of some of Kirkcaldy’s political elite to assist in the clean up of a field opposite Fair Isle Road.

His team included, Neale Hanvey MP, David Torrance MSP and Councillor Carol Lindsay, who all filled a bag of litter each within an hour and 45 minutes.

Peter, who is the head volunteer of Keep Kirkcaldy Tidy said: “Sadly time got ahead of us, meaning that we unfortunately had to leave, but will be back to focus on the area on our next litter picking event.”

"I would like to see everyone that uses the field to utilise the public bins in the area or take the litter home to bin, by doing this, it will help us to keep our fields tidy.”
