Queen’s funeral:  University of St Andrews to broadcast funeral in Younger Hall

The University of St Andrews is set to open its doors to students, staff and residents to watch a live broadcast of the state funeral of The Queen on Monday.

It will be screened in the Younger Hall, and is open to all to attend.

The venue will be open from 9:00am with the broadcast featuring coverage ahead of the funeral which begins at 11a:00

There will be two minutes’ silence at midday.

Following the end of the funeral, the screening will continue so those gathered can watch full coverage of events in London.

Dame Sally Mapstone, University of St Andrews Principal and Vice-Chancellor, said: “We recognise this is a significant and historic day and we would like to offer an opportunity for members of the University and wider St Andrews community to come together if they wish.”

Monday has been declared a national Bank Holiday with many businesses and council services closing to allow staff to watch it, and pay their final respects.
