The club paid tribute to Brian, posting: “Words can’t really describe the shock to all that knew these great people.

“To those who played with him and against him know that he will be remembered for his huge late swinging deliveries that bamboozled many a batsman especially the English in the village cup and on his day was unplayable.

“Always up for a laugh his usual on a game day was to bring out the cold hose and dowse the young team in the shower after the game!

“After playing in the 1XI for many a year he then became the 2nd XI captain and will be remembered for creating a great environment for bringing on many a youngster, encouraging them all the way and not afraid to let them know when they were not pulling their weight!
