Val McDermid narrates new film about her home town of Kirkcaldy

The documentary looks back on the history of the Lang Toun - and celebrate sits industrial heritage as well as recalling many landmarks and events.
It has been produced by Talisman Films Scotland, a Dunfermline based video group which specialises in local history films.
The non profit making organisation made a previous film about the town, Kirkcaldy Past & Present.


Multi-award winning author Val, who was born in the town, has donated her fee for narrating the film to Kirkcaldy Foodbank.
The footage covers a wide range of subjects including a look at Kirkcaldy’s potteries, Robert Dunsire, the town’s VC recipient in 1915, the 1966 Pageant i and a miners’ gala day in Ravenscraig Park in 1964.
It also recalls the visit of wild West legend Buffalo Bill’s visit in 1904, the opening of Nairn’s factories during the war, and the building of Kirkcaldy Ice Rink.
