Club captains past and present a Flyers' memories group

Captains past and present will be the special guests at the second Flyers’ Memories event next week.

Club legend Gordon Latto will be joined by Garet Hunt for an afternoon of chat about their careers on Wednesday, October 28 at the Strathearn Hotel, Kirkcaldy from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. They will also be joined by defenceman Victor Bjorkung.

The gathering is the second under the Flyers’ Memories banner which forms part of the initiatives led by the newly created Flyers Alumni - set up to properly celebrate and acknowledge the players who have donned the gold, white and blue tops, and the coaches who have led the teams across the past eight decades.

The reminiscing group was launched last month at a well attended event which featured Chic Cottrell and head coach Tim Wallace.

The initiative was launched by the same team which produced the 40th anniversary celebrations which reunited the 1985 British championship winning team led by the legendary Ron Plumb, Dave Stoyanovich and Danny Brown who were joined on sage by their team-mates for a special live show at Rothes Halls.

The new memories group is open to all fans to attend and hear from players past and present.

Flyers Alumni has also confirmed that CHAS and Maggie’s Fife will be its charity partners throughout this season.

The two organisations shared a donation of £6000 - the proceeds from the live show, and dinner staged last summer.

Through the Alumni, a number of former players have also been welcomed back to match nights as their special guests.

Last week saw thew return of James Isaacs, who has played in more EIHL games than any other import at the club and was a member of the Gardiner Conference winning team of 2017-18.

He followed former netminder Martin McKay who took a bow during a recent game.

The Alumni has an open invitation to all former players to come to a hockey game - they simply need to email [email protected] the day before a match for the arrangements to be made.
