'We blew it and I was seething': Raging Thornton Hibs boss Craig Gilbert assesses 2-1 home league loss to Preston Athletic
Raging Thornton Hibs boss Craig Gilbert was pulling no punches about his side’s lacklustre display in last Saturday’s 2-1 home league loss to Preston Athletic when the late Hibs goal was scored by Darren Ormiston.
“We lost three points and it’s not good enough,” Gilbert told the Fife Free Press. “We had enough opportunities to score three or four goals in that first half easily but we didn’t take the chances.

"But there was a massive difference from the week before against Haddington when we had hunger and desire. Complacency said in on Saturday, when it was a massive opportunity to get another three points on the board and we blew it.
"They played a 4-4-2, they sat in for 90 minutes and tried to do breakaways, which is what they did with the first goal.
"You could hear them celebrating in the dressing room afterwards, it was nuts.
"But it was just a poor performance by us when you know we can do so well.
"I let the boys know what I thought after the game. I was seething. You can’t just turn up when you like, in this league it’s demanding.
"You lose concentration, you lose games. We’ve lost nine games, it’s ridiculous as we should be in the top six easily but they are not performing at the level they should be.”
Hibs, 12th in the EoS Premier Division with 14 points from 15 games, visit Blackburn United in the league this Saturday in a 2.30pm kick-off.
Gilbert said: “The last time we won at Blackburn was 2018. They play on astroturf and they’ve got the striker Andy Jones who always scores against us seemingly.
"They are below us in the league by three points so we’ve got to go there, up our game and try to get the three points away from home.
"We can’t have them beside us in the league, we’ve got to get away from them.”
