Why Raith Rovers' latest signing Jack Baird has joined Kirkcaldy club from St Johnstone
Jack Baird has revealed that the opportunity to work under his old Greenock Morton managerial team of Dougie Imrie and Andy Millen was a key factor in him penning a two-year deal with Raith Rovers on Friday following his exit from top flight St Johnstone.
Defender Baird, 30, who has arrived at Stark’s Park for an undisclosed fee, previously served Rovers’ William Hill Championship rivals Morton between 2022 and 2025 before sealing a move to the Perth outfit and helping them land the second tier title last term.

But, after 37 appearances and three goals for Saints, he is now on Raith’s books and made his debut in last Friday night’s 1-0 league derby loss at Dunfermline Athletic which saw Rovers go down to their first Championship defeat of the campaign by virtue of Josh Cooper’s late strike.
Speaking to club media ahead of facing the Pars, Baird said: “I’m delighted to get the deal done, as it was an opportunity I couldn’t let pass me by.
“I’m really looking forward to working under the manager and with Andy again, following our time at Morton. They’ve assembled a really strong squad here, and I can’t wait to get involved.
“It’s a massive occasion tonight and something I’m very excited to be a part of!”
Rovers posted online when announcing the Baird signing: “Raith Rovers is delighted to announce the signing of Jack Baird on a two-year contract.
"A powerful defender who is no stranger to Championship supporters, Jack brings furhter strength, experience and leadership to the Rovers squad.”
