Coronavirus: Fife Flyers refund offer amid ‘extremely challenging’ times

Fife Flyers have asked supporters to consider accepting gift vouchers instead of refunds for the two home games cancelled because of coronavirus.

The vouchers can be used for any matches in the 2020-21 season.

The cancellations of matches against Glasgow Clan and Coventry Blaze saw the club take a financial hit – a point emphasised in its offer as it spoke of “extremely challenging” times.

It stated: “As a small club, we really do live week to week on our game night revenue and we essentially use the money generated by game tickets to pay the bills and to keep this team functioning week to week.

“As cash flow is a concern and the lack of revenue from these two games has severely affected our projected income for the season, we would ask fans, where possible, to consider taking a flexi-pass in the form of a gift voucher where possible.”

Flyers will give refunds to any fans who request decline the offer.

For season ticket holders, the club is offering no refunds, but, instead will give them two additional games next season.

Further details on this will be available when the club unveils its ticket packages for the forthcoming season which usually starts in September, but is subject to society returning to normal after lockdown.

Flyers said refunds would be available from Tuesday April 7 as it will “need to transfer money and generate funds to facilitate the refund process.”

The developments come as one fan launched a crowdfunding appeal to help the club - one they hope Flyers will officially endorse.

This week, the team confirmed all its import players had returned home safely after the abrupt curtailment of the season.

“This has been a very difficult and uncertain time for staff, players and director,” the statement added.

“The health of our staff and players is extremely important to us and has been of high priority over the past few weeks.”
