Kirkcaldy Rugby Club skipper Craig Hamilton: 'We need maximum points this Saturday after blundering at Stewart’s Melville'
Kirkcaldy Rugby Club skipper Craig Hamilton was a frustrated man after his side went down to a 25-17 loss at Stewart’s Melville in the sides’ latest Arnold Clark National League Division 2 outing last Saturday.
The Blues captain, speaking exclusively to the Fife Free Press after a loss in Edinburgh which sees Kirkcaldy eighth in the table on 15 points from their eight fixtures played so far this term, felt his side should have gained something positive from the match and also bemoaned the fact that they didn’t add one more try to those achieved by Robbie Penman, Steve Milne and Rory Brown to garner a crucial bonus point.

“I think we should have come away with some points,” Hamilton said.
"We defended well in periods of the game and we blundered a chance to get a fourth try to get a bonus point plus get within seven points for an extra point.
"This would have been beneficial, especially with other teams around us in the table picking up points.
"Spirits are still high among the lads but we are all feeling disappointed we never came away with any points last weekend.”
A tightly-bunched table currently has Kirkcaldy eight points adrift of fourth-placed Peebles and they are also just seven points and six points respectively behind fifth-placed Stewart’s Meville and sixth-placed Gordonians, while seventh-placed Howe of Fife are only above Hamilton’s men on points difference.
The Blues would appear to have an excellent chance of garnering a victory in their next match, as they host bottom of the table Preston Lodge in a 3pm kick-off at Beveridge Park this Saturday.
Hamilton outlined the extreme importance of this match by adding: "Looking ahead to this weekend’s fixture, it’s a must win game, nothing less.
"We need a five-point win and to leave them with nothing.”
After the Preston Lodge fixture Kirkcaldy Rugby Club are hosting a Halloween Party, with kids welcome.
The Blues’ Facebook page posted: “Tickets are available from the bar, through the page directly or via Steph Littlejohn. Get your tickets early and we’ll see you there!”
