2021 Fife Festival of Music cancelled - organisers look ahead to return next year

The 41st annual Fife Festival of Music should have been in full swing now - instead organisers are looking ahead to 2022.

The long-standing event was an early cancellation after the pandemic struck.

Due to run from February 1-12 at several theatres across the region, the organisers felt they had no option given the six months of pl;anning which is required.

It features participation of school pupils from P1 to sixth yeast as well as choirs, bands, orchestras and ensembles from across the community.

The organising committee felt there was no option but to postpone and look ahead to 2022.

Graeme Wilson, chairman, said: “Festival platforms are populated by a wide range of participants, from schools and community groups.

“The absence from the lives of many of active music making and important socialising is one of the major and serious drawbacks of the pandemic.”He added: “We send our good wishes to all past participants, and hope to welcome all back in the near future.
