Duo set for Lang Toun Jazz gig at Old Kirk in Kirkcaldy

Langtoun Jazz continues its autumn programme with a welcome return from trumpeter Colin Steele.

He will be joined by acclaimed saxophonist Martin Kershaw, at the Old Kirk, Kirkcaldy, on Saturday, November 7 at 8.00pm

Colin’s music is a joyous celebration of Scottish melody and rhythm, liberated and enhanced by the spirit, sophistication and technique of jazz. He has played in a wide range of styles, working with Hue and Cry in the 1990s, living in France, Italy and London, and issuing his own folk-inflected albums to huge critical acclaim.

Grace Black, chair of Langtoun Jazz, said “Colin is always a welcome and popular visitor to Kirkcaldy whatever style he may be playing. His ability to interpret the great trumpeters, from Louis Armstrong to Miles Davis, and for this concert Chet Baker, is second to none.

“Martin is an exceptional saxophonist, and it will be a joy to hear his take on the wonderful Stan Getz, who amongst many achievements popularised Bossa Nova in the 1960’s with Joao Gilberto.”
