Campaign to pardon Scots accused of witchcraft stages second Fife event

The online conference on Sunday will feature artists, historians, authors and campaigners for social justice.

The group, Remembering the Accused Witches of Scotland, had intended staging the event at Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline as a follow up to a launch event at the town’s Glen Pavilion.

The pandemic has forced a move to online which will open it up to a much wider audience.

The group’s primary aim is to erect a national memorial to recognise the historic persecution that church and state brought down on over 4000 Scots.

It runs in parallel with the campaign, headed by Claire Mitchell QC, to obtain a judicial pardon for all those so wrongly prosecuted and executed.

Sunday’s event starts at 1:00pm and features contributions from chair, Sheila Gaul, author Sara Sheridan, and Claire Mitchell QC.
