BBQ and sunshine brings families together at Kirkcaldy's Methven House
Special barbecue for care home residents and their families.
Residents at Methven House Care Home in Kirkcaldy made the most of one of the final summer weekends of the year as more than 20 family members joined them for a special barbecue in the garden, which also raised £200 for the residents’ comfort fund.

Warm weather and plenty of sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for the afternoon, with the Methven House garden bustling with residents, relatives, friends and staff enjoying good food, live music and time together.
The home’s chef, Jen, even came in on her weekend off especially for the occasion, bringing her husband along to help run the barbecue and ensure there was plenty of freshly cooked food for everyone to enjoy.

Rather than queuing for their food, residents and their guests were treated to table service throughout the afternoon, with the Methven House team kept busy making sure everyone could simply relax, enjoy their meal and spend time together.
There were more treats on offer too, with freshly baked cakes and homemade tablet sold during the afternoon, raising an impressive £200 for the residents’ comfort fund. The money will go towards additional treats, activities and experiences for residents at Methven House.
Roseanne Somerville, Service Manager at Methven House, said: “It was wonderful to look around our garden and see it so full of residents spending time with their families and friends. We welcomed more than 20 family members and there was such a lovely atmosphere throughout the afternoon.
“Our team were rushed off their feet providing table service and making sure everyone was looked after but seeing how much our residents and their families enjoyed themselves made it all worthwhile.
“A special thank you to everyone who chose to support the day in whatever capacity including Gilbert for providing the guitar soundtrack for the afternoon.”
