Fife woman scoops company’s apprentice of year award
A Fifer has been named as apprentice of the year by her company.
Persimmon Homes North Scotland has honoured Casey Gardner for her outstanding skill, dedication, and contribution to the team.
Just seven months into her painting and decorating apprenticeship, she had already won two Scottish competitions and represented the business at the national Painting and Decorating Association Finals. She later received the Apprentice of the Year award at The Courier Business Awards.
Casey, from Glenrothes, has also mentored fellow apprentices across Scotland, shared her story to inspire future tradespeople, and promoted construction careers to young people. She also helped to restore the Links Market Hobby Horse in Kirkcaldy.
James MacKay, managing director, said: "Casey embodies skill, professionalism, and leadership. She is a trailblazer for women in construction and a thoroughly deserving winner.” Casey said: “The support from my colleagues and mentors has been incredible, and I hope my journey encourages others to consider a career in construction."
