The school had asked for action to find a solution for buses bringing pupils in each morning to the classrooms on Milton Road..

A site meeting with council officers and the headteacher for the school reached unanimous consensus that Methven Road would be a suitable location for a bus stand.

It was put into place before lockdown, and officers have now been given the go ahead to make the temporary changes permanent.

Councillors were told the changes were made because the previous bus drop-off point was on a ‘no waiting’ area, and some pupils were crossing behind the vehicles - and the crossing patrol had reduced visibility.

There was also significant overuse of the ‘keep clear’ markings at the school.

Phil Clarke lead consultant, traffic management told councillors: “We hoped to bring it to committee in April but that was not possible because of lockdown.

“We have introduced the restrictions in the interim to get them ready for start of school term, and everything is working well.
