Fife teenager dies in crash in west of Scotland

Police enquiries are continuing after an 18 year-old woman from Fife died following a road crash at Druimdarroch yesterday (Tuesday, April 12).

She has been identified as Amy Simpson of Cowdenbeath.

Around 6.45pm, police were called to a report of a crash on the C30 near to Dalavich, Taynuilt.

An 18 year-old woman was driving a Peugeot car, when the car left the road and entered the River Avich at Druimdarroch.

Four female passengers aged 17, 18, 18, and 19 managed to escape from the car with no serious injuries.

However, 18-year-old Amy died at the scene.

Police confirmed that relatives have been made aware.

Sergeant Archie McGuire at Campbeltown Police Office urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact him on 101.

A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
