Kirkcaldy charity's Christmas appeal takes off as kind hearted folk dig deep

Kirkcaldy family support centre Nourish has been overwhelmed by the level of support for its Christmas Appeal from people across the town.

The charity recently moved into new premises after a hugely successful campaign to raise £15,000.

It has been collecting donations of toys, gifts, food and cash with everything going to support families with additional support needs.

Lynne Scott, centre manager said: “We have had a huge number of donations handed in, but we are appealing for more as we are supporting over 80 families this Christmas, with more referrals pouring in each day.

"A lot of are struggling desperately financially, and really don’t know how they are going to manage over the festive period.

"Some have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic, and quite a few who are still in work have had their hours cut drastically.

"So far, we have had over 40 referrals for Christmas food parcels so we are asking people to donate food as well as toys, gifts and money.”

Lynne is planning to deliver the gifts and food parcels the week before Christmas so all donations need to in before then.

She added: "The level of support has been fantastic. There are too many people to thank, but we have to say a special thank you to Ian and Jan Johnston who have been helping us for a number of years now.

"We wouldn’t have been able to support as many families without their support and the support of everyone else who has donated.”
