It takes place in the Old Kirk on Thursday, October 17 at 7:30pm - one of several events at the historic building next week.
The society was launched in 1974 to uphold the protect Volunteers Green after councillors considered turning it into a car park. It was launched to uphold the rights of the people of Kirkcaldy who had been granted in 1644 over eight acres as common land for the specific purposes of recreation, bleaching and dyeing. This gift, part of Charles I's grant of Royal Burgh status to Kirkcaldy, was to be looked after by the Town Council which was appointed as trustees - but not owners.
