It worked for over 20 years, predominently with directly referred clients who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, by providing advice and assistance about the private rented sector, and endorsed by a deposit guarantee to secure a private property where financial constraints would otherwise make this difficult.

The revamped service aims to meet the housing need of the wider Fife community, and to include anyone interested in the private rented sector, regardless of their current tenure, while continuing to aid homelessness prevention.

Fife Private Rental Solutions will work with landlords so that private rented properties are considered a sustainable option.

The service will also look to assist with other rental opportunities, tenancy share and rooms to let, and advice will be available on funds available to assist in

securing a property and making it a sustainable home.

The team will offer numerous services, such as assistance with identifying a suitable property, rent and tenancy issue resolution, tenant and landlord mediation, advice and advocacy services for landlords, as well as continuing to provide deposit guarantees with more additions to services as they are developed.

Kathy Hutson, development worker, said: “Trust in Fife is pleased to officially launch Fife Private Rental Solutions.

"It’s a new service encapsulating the services previously offered Fife-wide by Fife Keyfund that adds new, more expansive dimensions, which means opening the service to a far wider section of the local community.

“Our team has been hoping to assist people who haven’t met our agreed criteria for such a long time, testing the waters to see how we can help.

"I’m really pleased that we can now be less restrictive in the assistance we can offer, and I’m looking forward to promoting the private rented sector as an affordable choice for many tenants.”

If you would like advice related to the private rented sector – whether as a tenant or a landlord -, or to find out more about the service, please contact the team on 01592 201849 or email [email protected].
