The Dining Room at the top of the town is closing after six years, during which time it carved out a loyal clientele, and became a fond favourite of many locals.

Chef Roddy Jobson and his business partner, Martyn Stewart, are withdrawing as leaseholders of the premises in York Place.

They signed off with a thank you to all who have supported them, including staff and customers.

Writing on the company’s Facebook page, they said: “After six wonderful years this chapter has sadly come to an end.

“What a six years it has been though!

“Through all of the blood, sweat and tears we have loved looking after you all. five fabulous Christmas days, five fully booked Mothers’ Dys, and countless birthday parties. We have been privileged to be a part of them.”

They added: “A special shout out has to go to those who have supported us week in, week out in the bar.

“Not only has your support played a big part in our success but we have made great mates for life.

“Whilst this chapter ends, the story does not. We will continue to work hard on our other businesses and hopefully we can build on these in the future.

“We wish you and your families well and even more so in these uncertain times we ask that you continue to support local independent businesses. These are the heart and soul of the town.”
