Kevin Murphy, Wellbeing Pharmacy Group superintendent said: “We have been working extremely hard on the development of the MedPoint 24/7 prescription collection concept for over two years which has led us to found a separate automation company trading as ‘MedPoint’ with the support of Scottish Enterprise and InnovateUK.

"Our aim is to improve patients access to medicines and help those that often struggle to get to a pharmacy within usual opening times. Feedback from patients has been excellent with over 99 per cent saying they would recommend the service to family and friends.

"We designed the service to be really easy to use, all patients need to do is enter a pin number they receive by text message. Our research has shown that all age groups are quite happy to use the collection point with nearly 40 per cent of users being over 60.”

Berni Brown, owner of Cadham Pharmacy said: “It feels fantastic to have won this award, the award we won relates to how we have supported patients to self-care for themselves which means less trips to their GP.

"To be reviewed by our peers and recognised by the leaders of the industry is just wonderful.”
