Kirkcaldy play their final home league match of the season on Saturday when Peebles visit Beveridge Park.

At present Peebles stand in third place in the National 2 table, just ouside the promotion places but a distant 12 points behind Kelso in second spot.

The Blues came a cropper two weeks ago on the day of the Calcutta Cup match when a makeshift side lost heavily to GHK at Old Anniesland, a game from which they had hoped to take the points. That loss left them in ninth place in the 12 team table, just clear of relegation.

Hillhead/Jordanhill, having lost all their games so far, were consigned to relegation two months ago but second bottom Ardrossan have shown some recent signs of recovery.

Mathematically they would have to win all their remaining games with bonuses and by 60 point margins to overtake the Blues.

Kirkcaldy seconds have one game still to play in their Midlands Division 2 campaign against Crieff and Strathearn. That game will not take place until April 8.

This month marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Brian Mitchell, a former Kirkcaldy stalwart and father of current player Steve, in a tragic accident on the family farm at Clentrie. To remember a gathering of his former team mates and friends will gather for a pre-match lunch.
