She was back at Wembley to beat Chelsea in 2016 during her time at Arsenal.

The local pro still had a year left on her contract but as she was seeking regular game time felt that she needed to move on from the Gunners with Reading the perfect fit.

She spent the second half of the 2019-20 season on loan at Arsenal’s north London rival’s Tottenham Hotspur.

“Emma is a great addition to the squad and is someone who knows what it takes to win and be successful,” Reading boss Kelly Chambers said.

“Personality and character is something i look for in players and Emma’s will definitely add to and fit with the group I have already.

“I am extremely excited to work with Emma, not only because of her ability but she is a very honest, hard working player who will add that competitive edge to everything we do.”

Mitchell made 119 appearances across all competitions with eight goals to her name for Arsenal.

She made the breakthrough domestically with an all conquering Glasgow City side before heading abroad and then to England.
