A quick glance at the league table shows Saints occupying second place while Saturday’s visitors sit just two points off the bottom.

But the United gaffer reckons Armadale are in a false position so will be taking nothing for granted at the weekend.

He said: “It’s still really early doors yet but I think Armadale have underachieved.

“They took a bit of a beating at the weekend (going down 4-0 to Blackburn) so we have to beware of the wounded animal.

“Their manager will still be working on getting his best best team together and when he does that I think they’re capable of giving someone a doing, so we need to approach the game on Saturday in a professional manner.”

Barrett’s new look Saints side has gelled impressively since the start of the season and at the weekend saw off Dunbar United in the East of Scotland Cup after a penalty shoot-out.

“Dunbar haven’t been beaten yet this season and looked a really capable side,” said Barrett.

“Both teams were having a go at each other.

“They maybe had the better of the first half and we had the better of the second when we came into it.

“We had a couple of scares at the end before the penalty shoot-out.”
