SPFL's top scorer John Robertson lifts the lid on his Raith Rovers move

After weeks of speculation, the SPFL’s top scorer this season, John Robertson, has confirmed that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with Raith Rovers.

East Kilbride forward Robertson, 24, who has scored 32 goals in 45 appearances this season for the League Two champions, was speaking after picking up the League Two Player of the Year prize at Sunday night’s PFA Scotland Awards ceremony in Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.

“I’m going to Raith Rovers,” Robertson told Sky Sports. “I’ve signed for Raith.

"I signed a pre-contract a few weeks ago.

"I’m just looking forward to trying to do damage in the championship.”

On being named League Two’s top player for 2025-2026 after picking up the most votes from rival players, Robertson said: “It’s brilliant to get this recognition, especially from your peers.

"It’s unbelievable. I knew I had a good chance of winning it but I wasn’t too sure. Mark Stowe (The Spartans player) was brilliant as well. I’m buzzing to get the award.

"I’ve got 32 goals this season. I didn’t ever expect it to be honest with you.

"But the way Mick (manager Mick Kennedy) and Si (assistant boss Simon Ferry) play football, you get a lot of freedom on the ball so it means you can go and do the damage.

"As a team, East Kilbride play the best football in League Two, it’s brilliant.”
