Fans hopes he’d return were dashed with today’s announcement by Steelers that he will don a an orange top for the 2020-21 season. He has signed a two-year deal with the club.

Jones gained his early hockey experience in Canada having moving to north America at the age of eight, and was schooled in the Okanagan Hockey Academy.

He iced with Swindon Wildcats in 2018-19 before making the jump into the EIHL with Flyers last season.

Earlier this summer, the player launched Sam Jones Sports Performance Training to bring his knowledge of working with leading trainers in Canada to the UK.

Aaron Fox, Steelers head coach, said “Sam is a very talented Brit Defenseman who I felt would be a great addition to our Roster. He’s big and skates very well for his size. Will play a physical game and can add some offense as well.
