Along with the Junior Saints Summer Camp, the Summer Rugby Camp was funded through donations from alumni, friends, parents and staff towards the Principals’ Strategic Response Fund, which was created to ensure the niversity could respond to the needs of staff, students and local community during the pandemic.

Director of rugby at the Uni, Scott Lawson, who led this year’s rugby camp, said: “The feedback from the parents, players and coaches has been excellent.

“The appreciation shown in having the opportunity for some team activities in a safe environment, allowing children to have some much-desired interaction before school starts was recognised more than ever. Considering the challenging times we have found ourselves in,

“I have to give full credit to those children who have come into a week long programme full of energy and enthusiasm. There were some tired bodies during the week, but their behaviour and application was impeccable which is testament to them as they embody the values of our sport.”

The next rugby camp which will take place from 20 to 22 October. Details are at on the sports camp webpages.
