Scotrail given customers' vote of confidence

ScotRail customers continue to rate the train operator highly, with more than nine in ten satisfied with their overall journey.

The latest independent Rail Customer Experience Survey (RCXS), carried out by Transport Focus, shows 92 per cent of customers are satisfied with their overall ScotRail journey.

The results show customers continue to rate their experience highly across a number of areas, including punctuality, experience at stations, experience on trains, personal safety, value for money, and the information provided during their journey.

ScotRail also continues to perform strongly compared with the railway across Great Britain, ranking highest amongst the large operators and scoring above the Great Britain average in 10 of the 11 measures included in the latest scorecard.

Customers recorded 91 per cent satisfaction with punctuality, while 92 per cent were satisfied with the information provided at stations.

Satisfaction with trains overall was 90 per cent, with the same score recorded for personal safety while on board.

Customers also continued to rate ScotRail strongly across areas including value for money and crowding on trains.

The train operator recorded almost 900,000 more passenger journeys in July 2026 than in 2025, with almost 8.5million journeys made across the month as people travelled to major events across the country.

The RCXS is carried out by Transport Focus, the independent watchdog for transport users, and provides regular feedback on the parts of the rail journey that matter most to customers.

David Ross, ScotRail Chief Operating Officer, said: “It’s encouraging to see customers continuing to give ScotRail such a strong vote of confidence, with more than nine in ten satisfied with their overall journey.

“These results reflect the hard work of our people right across Scotland, who are focused every day on providing customers with a safe, reliable, and welcoming railway.

“We’re also pleased that ScotRail continues to perform strongly compared with the railway across Great Britain, particularly in important areas such as punctuality and value for money.”

He added: “We know there is always more we can do, and we’ll continue listening to our customers and using their feedback to make their journeys even better.”
