Stage set for Burntisland bonfire night celebrations but this could be the last year if funding not found

Fifers are invited to enjoy a spectacular firework display in Burntisland next week – and to help ensure the event can continue in future years.

The skies above the town will be sparkling on Wednesday, November 4 when the Bonfire Night celebrations are back for 2026.

However, organisers have warned that this year’s celebrations could be the last if they don’t reach their fundraising target. They are asking members of the public to show their support for the event – which always draws in the crowds – by donating what they can to help cover the hefty costs faced to run it each year.

A spokesperson for the organising committee said: “The total cost of staging the event is £14,700, and with reduced grant funding this year, we are facing a significant shortfall. Without increased public support, it becomes much harder to ensure the event can go ahead at the same scale and quality that everyone enjoys.

“We are therefore asking, if you are able, please consider making a donation — every contribution, large or small, makes a real difference in helping us keep this much-loved community tradition alive.

"Without enough funding, this could be Burntisland’s last fireworks display. But together, we can save it.

“Every donation helps cover the costs of organising the display. Whether you give £5, £10 or £20, your support will make a real difference.”

The family friendly fun on the Links begins at 6.15pm with entertainment ahead of the ‘main event’.

The bonfire will be lit at 7pm with the fireworks display starting at around 7.30pm.

The fireworks display is organised by a small committee who appreciate the support of the community whether it’s through support of volunteering to help out, or turning up on the night to ensure the event is a success.

The event is free for people to attend, however the committee will be raising money on the night to help fund future events.

Anyone thinking of attending should wrap up warm, wear sturdy footwear, bring a torch and follow instructions from the event’s stewards.

People are advised not to bring their own fireworks or sparklers to the community event, and there is no alcohol allowed.

Those attending are encouraged to walk or use public transport as parking will be limited.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in support of the event ahead of the night can do so through the organising committee’s Crowdfunding page https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/burntisland-bonfire-and-fireworks-display-2026
