Gyms across Fife set for busy re-opening day as lockdown restrictions lifted

Some restrictions will still apply, but it means the businesses can start to operate after a prolonged shutdown.

From Monday, gyms and swimming pools can reopen for for individual exercise.

The return to operations has been eagerly awaited by businesses and customers.

More than 1000 Fifers booked their visits to centres run by Fife Sports & Leisure Trust within 48 hours of the online booking system going live.

Unlike the first lockdown, which saw the trust operate a phased re-opening programme, it will open doors at all facilities on the same date.

Only the Beacon Centre in Burntisland will miss out as work to address issues related to COVID health and safety measures continue.

Emma Walker, chief executive, said: “Our staff and facilities are ready and we are very much looking forward to welcoming customers back.”

Private gyms are also gearing up for a busy day.
