Even a short, sharp shower during the day didn’t dampen the spirits of the crowds who turned out to enjoy the delights of the show and find out more about the local farming industry.

The new food and drink marquee quickly proved a hit, with more than 2000 visitors through the doors by mid-afternoon. It featured the best of local produce – which visitors quickly got to try at the neighbouring Elmwood College marquee where cookery demonstrations went on throughout the day.

The livestock was, as usual the highlight of the show, especially the sheep sporting a very bright shade of wool.

The heavy horses proved popular with visitors, as did the smaller ponies and the other animals on show, including poultry, dogs, falcons and ferrets.

There was a nod to almost up-to-date agriculture with a parade of vintage tractors entering.

There were crafts, music – including the Cupar and District Pipe Band, and performers from the Scottish Official Highland Dancing Association.
