Hair-raising charity stunts

Family members from Leven will soon be balancing on the razor's edge and making a leap for charity.

Lorraine Wallace is doing a ‘brave the shave’ event to raise awareness of the work of Macmillan nurses, after her mum, Annemarie McCrystal (62), of Leven, was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The fund-raiser, however, may also be embellished by a bungee jump, or a stunt plunge at least, by Lorraine’s dad, Bob McCrystal, a former Hollywood stuntman.

The fund-raising party is taking place at 7.30pm on November 12 in the Expressions School of Dance in Methil and is due to feature a buffet and a raffle, before Lorraine has her shoulder-length hair shaved off by a local hairdresser – who has also been asked to fashion her remaining locks in the shape of a coloured orchid.

Lorraine (34), of Fochabers, has raised almost £1000 so far in appreciation of the care shown to her mum since the diagnosis.

Dad Bob (69) had a successful career in Britain and the US as a TV and film stuntman from the 1960s to the 1980s, working on four James Bond pictures, plus the likes of ‘The Green Berets’, ‘A Clockwork Orange’ and, on the small screen, ‘The Avengers, ‘The Persuaders!’ and many more.

More recently, he has been working on the TV series ‘Outlander’ and the new movie sequel to ‘Trainspotting’.

Bob, who has also worked as a stunt co-ordinator on a number of Fife-based community film projects , is hoping to display his old skills at the fundraiser with a stunt fall or bungee leap.
