Fife’s only World Cup fanzone: ticket launch details, entertainment and how to book

The wraps have come off the line-up for the only major World Cup fanzone to be held in Fife this summer.

The big event takes place at Fife Ice Arena in Kirkcaldy to celebrate Scotland’s three qualifying games as the team returns to the world stage for the first time in almost 30 years.

Organised by Love Oor Lang Toun (LOLT), they promise a vibrant atmosphere with big-screen action beamed live from the USA, plus live entertainment and food, with ticket prices set at £10 per night - or all three for £25.

It is the only confirmed major fanzone in the region after Dunfermline Athletic pulled the plug on plans to host one at East End Park.

Scotland’s World Cup finals kicks-off with a game against Haiti at 2:00am on Sunday, June 14, followed by Morocco on June 19 and Brazil on the 24th, both starting at 11:00pm.

The Lang Toun fanzone is sponsored by Tennents, and will also feature an on ice bar hosted by Kirk Wynd based Krafty Fine Drinks, ensuring quick service and a wide selection of UK and International beers, local food trucks and some sports based arcade games.

Entertainment will also be a major highlight, with performances from KY-ONE hoist, DJ Lewis Montague and the electrifying Elektrik TIEL delivering music and atmosphere to keep the crowd buzzing before and during the matches.

Ryan Strachan, development manager at LOLT, said: “Whether you're a passionate supporter or just looking for a lively night out, the World Cup fanzone at Fife Ice Arena is the place to be this June. It’s been a pleasure to work people from all over town to make this event a reality, we are excited to bring Fife’s only fanzone to Kirkcaldy”

Tickets - available to over 18s only - are available now and expected to sell quickly at www.fifeicearena.co.uk For the opening game against Haiti, doors will open at 10:00pm with the game starting at 2:00am. For the two other games, which kick-off at 11:00pm, the events will start at 8:00pm.

Fife Licensing Board has agreed to allow pubs and venues to stay open until half an hour after the games - but venues wanting a late licence will have to already be authorised to screen live sport. The same policy will be in place for quarter finals, semi finals and final with venues also able to apply for specific other matches if there is “clear local demand or community interest.”

Already, a number of bars and hotels around the region have organised ticketed events to screen the Scotland games. In Kirkclady, Styx on Victoria Road, and Montagues’ pub in the High Street have confirmed ticketed events to screen Scotland’s games.
