Landmark moment for vibrant Leven hub after devasting Poundstretcher’s fire

The doors to a new community space are set to open in Leven - and the group behind it wants a local person to cut the ribbon.

BRAG Enterprises unveils its new space at the Together Levenmouth Hub in Leven’s High Street, on Friday, April 24 - three years after it was forced to close following the devastating fire which destroyed the neighbouring Poundstretcher shop.

To mark its launch, it wants a locally nominated community champion to carry out the opening honours.

The innovative Together Levenmouth Hub was established by BRAG in 2021 when it was asked to help regenerate the High Street. It converted two long vacant shops into a vibrant social and recreational centre for the community with escape rooms, crazy golf and a welcoming community café.

An 11-month closure followed the major fire, and, since its return, the hub’s services have continually evolved in direct response to community needs.

In 2024, the venue’s escape rooms were removed to create much needed office space for the community team, and the crazy golf course was scaled back to make way for a bigger café seating area.

The hub has flourished since then, hosting themed events and regular community activities throughout the year. BRAG also created a dedicated multipurpose room called Popup @ The Hub that has been used for birthday parties, support groups, community consultations, community banking and a wide range of social gatherings.

Over the last six months, the organisation has been hard at work transforming the space beneath the hub into flexible new space available to community groups and local businesses. These new facilities will be accessible not only during normal business hours but also in the evenings and at weekends - offering greater access and more opportunities for local people. It includes a larger event space and a specialist sensory room, much of it thanks to critical funding from the Levenmouth Reconnected Fund and Garfield Weston.

Brian Robertson-Fern, managing director at BRAG, said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved in Levenmouth. Our enterprise centre in Methil has been a huge success providing affordable business space and now our Together Levenmouth Hub has been very much a new approach in community wealth building at time when we are having to re-imagine our High Streets.

“This exciting new space was always the next stage for us, and we are so happy to finally see it coming to fruition. It’s a credit to everyone that has used the facility since it opened, and we hope to be able to continue providing such a valuable space to those we support.”

> To celebrate the occasion, BRAG is inviting nominations for a special guest to perform the ribbon cutting. It is searching for a local community champion, the oldest resident in Leven, or someone who has made a meaningful positive impact in the area.
