Balgonie Breakfast Club - More Than Just a Morning Roll.

Community enjoys Breakfast Club which is about more than just breakfast.

If you think the Balgonie Breakfast is just another event for lodge members, think again. It has quickly grown into a community club and a proper lifeline for those who regularly attend. Held monthly at the Masonic hall in Markinch, the morning get-together is now an established part of the life of Markinch.

It brings together family, friends, and lodge members of all ages to catch up, have a laugh, share memories and enjoy a breakfast roll and morning cuppa.

The Breakfast Club runs entirely as a donations-based club. Every single penny raised goes straight back into looking after and refurbishing the Masonic hall, keeping the fabric and decor of the building up to a high standard for years to come.

At the October breakfast club, those present came together to celebrate both a birthday and a forthcoming wedding. Whilst the birthday girl and the engaged couple are not members of the lodge, they come along every single month and have become a huge part of the extended Balgonie family.

Local councillor Peter Gulline drops by regularly, using the relaxed morning as a chance to sit down and chat with folks about what is happening in the local area.

Lodge Balgonie members are committed to making sure the club is a safe, inclusive space for everyone. They actively make sure that widows of former members are able to attend in order to stay connected, supported, and valued. From toddlers running around to seniors sharing stories, it completely bridges the generation gap and does a massive job of beating loneliness and isolation.

The Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Balgonie 764, Bro. John Rougvie, summed up exactly what makes the morning so special. “We wanted to create a relaxed, friendly, and welcoming space where our members can come along and meet up with friends, family members and local residents and have a blether whilst enjoying a hot breakfast. Freemasonry is all about friendship, charity, and community. This breakfast club shows exactly what that means in practice. It’s not just about raising money for the upkeep of the hall; it’s about looking after our own, keeping our widows and older members who can no longer get out in the evening involved, and opening our doors so our families, friends and the community can be together."

The Balgonie Breakfast is a perfect example of what community spirit is all about. If you want to know more about Lodge Balgonie, visit our website at https://balgonie764.org.uk
