Whisky business plans unveiled for former Fife town bank
A former Fife bank could become an office for a whisky company.
The Saltire Rare Malt Whisky has submitted a planning application to Fife Council to make changes to the Bank of Scotland building in Falkland’s High Street. It wants to carry out external alterations and create a new entrance
The building dates back to circa 1845, and was categorised as B Listed by Historic Scotland in 1971, and also sits within Falkland’s conservation area. It is thought the building was originally constructed as a bank - the British Linen Bank which has carved lettering above the entrance door.
The Saltire Rare Malt Whisky Corporation is already based in Falkland, and it wants to create a new office at the bank which would include a meeting room, the removal of the ATM, a small vestibule, and the vault will be reconfigured to form a bottle storage/display room.
The building has been empty since December 2024. Councillors will consider the application in due course.
