Fife Council buys new build homes from developer for much needed accommodation
Fife Council is to buy 14 new build homes in Coaltown of Wemyss.
The houses at the new Castle Park development are a mix of two and three-bedroom properties, will provide much-needed accommodation for families in the Levenmouth area, and support efforts to tackle housing pressures across Fife.
The acquisition from Persimmon Homes has been supported by Scottish Government funding, and it forms part of the council’s wider response to the housing emergency and its ongoing affordable housing programme.
Councillor Judy Hamilton, housing spokesperson, said: “This is a positive step in increasing the supply of good-quality homes in communities where they are needed most.

“By working proactively to bring new properties into our housing stock, we can support families, reduce pressure on temporary accommodation, and help more people find a home that meets their needs.”
Councillors at last week’s Cabinet Committee agreed to progress the deal. Once complete, the properties are expected to help up to 30 households through the local authority’s transfer-led allocations approach, creating opportunities for people to move into suitable housing and freeing up existing houses for others in need.
