Funding approved for repairs on unadopted Glenrothes road

A Glenrothes road “blighted by potholes” is set for a refresh after funding of £30,000 was approved.

The plan to repair and resurface Woolmill Road can now be driven forward after members of the Glenrothes Area Committee agreed the allocation of cash.

The route – which provides access to the Glenrothes Martial Arts Centre, Balbirnie Gym and one residential property – is owned by Fife Council but is unadopted.

It was identified as a priority after concerns about its condition were raised by councillors and members of the public.

Local councillor Lynda Holton said the road was blighted with potholes and an uneven surface.

“I have been working with Glenrothes Martial Arts Centre for over a year trying to secure funding from Fife Council to repair this badly damaged road,” she said.

“This news will come as a huge relief to the members who use the building and have to repeatedly risk damaging their vehicles to do so.

“The prospect of the road worsening further and potentially becoming unusable over winter was bleak, so I am delighted that we have finally secured an agreement to commit the money needed to put it right.”
