Fife Flyers add second British player from Sheffield Steelers to 2026-27 roster

Fife Flyers have added a third new British player to next season’s roster.

Kyle Watson has moved north to Kirkcaldy after a season split between Sheffield Steelers in the EIHL, and Sheffield Steeldogs in the NIHL.

The 25 year old English forward is a product of the Sheffield junior system, and joins former team-mate Reece Kelly and Ben Solder from Guildford Flames on Tim Wallace’s new look roster.

Wallace said: “Kyle is a player I watched a lot this past season. He has a lot of potential to become a solid player in this league. His ability to get into scoring areas and his willingness to compete are what stood out to me the most.

His skill with the puck is his biggest attribute, and with the right work ethic and commitment, he will be a huge piece of our club going forward.”

Born in Wakefield, Watson spent time abroad, developing his game in North America.

Watson spent nine seasons in the United States, with the final four of those coming at NCAA Division III level with Trine University.

Following the completion of his university career, Watson returned to the UK to join the Steeldogs on a two-way agreement with the Steelers, gaining valuable senior experience across both the NIHL and Elite League.

During his most recent season, Watson achieved 26 goals, 32 assists for 58 points across 47 games with the Steeldogs, and one goal and two assists in 13 games with the Steelers.
