Howe of Fife No 8 Fraser Allan sees red again as Scottish rugby inter-district championship squad named
Howe of Fife No 8 Fraser Allan’s sending-off during their 48-38 loss to Edinburgh’s Stewart’s Melville two weeks ago tomorrow won’t be his only study in scarlet this autumn as he’s also been called up by Caledonia Reds.
Allan is the only current player at the Cupar club selected for head coach Lewis Skinner’s 38-strong training squad for this rugby season’s Scottish inter-district championship but he’ll be joined by two blasts from the past in the form of Ben Curtis and Callum Norrie.

Skinner’s squad will assemble for the first of two training camps at Dollar Academy in Clackmannashire this coming Sunday, with a second following seven days later, and their opening fixture is away to defending champions Glasgow and the West on Friday, November 6.
That will be followed by a home match against South of Scotland in Aberdeen on Saturday, November 14, and a concluding away-day versus Edinburgh’s district team on Saturday, November 21.
Allan and Norrie’s fellow forwards are St Andrews University student Oliver Finlayson-Russell, Oscar Baird, Tim Brown, Sam Cardosi, Struan Cessford, Gregor Dodd, Seamus Gilmartin, Callum Hunter, Ali Johnstone, Malachy Keough, Ruairidh Leishman, Euan McLaren, Stephen Murray, James Pow, Lliam Quarm, Ramsay Scott, Ollie and Tom Smith and Adam Wood.
Joining Curtis among Reds’ forwards are Kaleem Barreto, Liam Brims, Glenn Bryce, Eric Davey, Ewan Fox, Rikki Gilchrist, Thomas Glendinning, Jensen Gowdy, Mikey Heron, Angus Hunter, DJ Innes, Ross McKnight, Cieran Milligan, Adriu Muritoki, Ryan Southern and Max Wallace.
“There’s a lot of talent in this squad, with players coming together from clubs right across Caledonia,” said Skinner.
“Some are representing the clubs they play for now while others are playing outside the district but get the opportunity to represent the clubs and schools where they grew up.
“There were a lot of tough decisions we had to make to finalise the squad and I think we have a really strong, exciting group.
“People across Caledonia will be looking forward to seeing what they can do.”
