St Andrews Thistle captain is just ace
The new captain of St Andrews Thistle Golf Club has set a standard early on in his tenure.
During the first event of the club’s new season, the Argyle Brewery Shield stableford, Alex Miller, who took over as captain in February from Jim Knox, sealed a place in history by scoring a hole-in-one over the Jubilee Bronze Course.
Watched on by playing partner John Hunter, Alex coped with the cold and windy conditions brilliantly to make his ace on the par 3 17th.
Honorary secretary Andrew Stamm said: “This was Alex's first hole-in-one and was achieved with his trusty five-wood.
“The membership congratulates Alex on his achievement.”
